I’ve had the privilege to explore some of Latin America’s richest culinary venues for 3 months: Colombia!

Experienced many of the best restaurants you’ll find in the world: X.O., Salvo Patria, Humo Negro, Carmen, Harry Sasson, LEO and most of the local restaurants.

Among them, were the restaurant that captivated me the most even without being the highest ranked on the list, but they certainly will earn their place in the top: Oda!

Nestled in the tranquil northern reaches of Bogotá in the Cedritos neighborhood, a culinary gem known as Oda is reshaping the landscape of haute cuisine in Latin America. What began as an innovative venture amid the challenging times of a global pandemic has blossomed into a beacon of gastronomic excellence, driven by a passionate commitment to the rich traditions and bountiful produce of Colombia’s Andean region.

The inception of Oda is a tale of vision and ambition. Two enterprising Colombian brothers, inspired by their international experiences and a deep-rooted love for their homeland, returned to Colombia with a bold idea. Their vision was not just to introduce the country’s first experiential indoor golf facility but to integrate a unique dining experience that would highlight local culinary traditions through a high-end lens. This holistic entertainment complex beautifully combines leisure with luxury, featuring everything from golf bays to a sophisticated whiskey lounge and a vibrant snack terrace. Yet, it is Oda, the crown jewel of the establishment, that truly captivates and enchants.

Under the initial guidance of acclaimed Chef Álvaro Clavijo, Oda was meticulously crafted to reflect the splendor of its surroundings. The kitchen's design and the culinary offerings were curated to harmonize with the vistas of the eastern hills and the verdant landscapes that define the region. When Chef Clavijo transitioned from the project, the talented Jeferson García took the helm. García, a young chef with a decade’s worth of experience in some of the world’s most illustrious kitchens—from Thailand to Denmark, Peru, and Chile—returned to Colombia to lead Oda. His expertise and passion have been instrumental in Oda’s journey toward culinary distinction.

The ethos of Oda revolves around a profound respect for local ingredients and traditional farming methods. Oda’s team collaborate closely with local producers to showcase the seasonal rhythms and unique flavors of the Andean highlands. Every dish at Oda tells a story of heritage and innovation, weaving together the cultural tapestry of Colombia with contemporary culinary techniques.

Recognition of Oda’s unique culinary approach came swiftly and prominently. Within just two and a half years of its opening, Oda received accolades as one of Latin America’s top gastronomic venues. Such esteemed recognition from The World 50 Best Restaurants underscores the quality and creativity that Oda consistently brings to the table.

Today, under the direction of Natalia Cocomá, the youngest chef to ever lead a 50 Best recognized kitchen in Latin America, Oda continues to soar. Chef Cocomá’s leadership is marked by a forward-thinking approach that seeks not only to sustain but to elevate Oda’s culinary narrative. Her focus on fostering a network of progress among local farmers and producers enriches the restaurant’s offerings and ensures that each guest experiences a genuine taste of Colombian heritage.

Oda is more than just a restaurant; it is a celebration of Colombia’s bountiful landscape and its culinary treasures. As it continues to evolve and set new standards in the South American culinary scene, Oda remains a proud testament to the creativity, resilience, and spirit of Colombia.
